2013-14 ISC President Fran Harris Shaffer Acceptance Speech
I sincerely want to thank each and every one of you for providing me with the opportunity to serve as your State President this year. I’d like to give a special Thank You to my husband Chip and to the rest of my family for their love and support that they have given me and will give me in the coming year. To my long time ESA friends and sisters, especially Lurene Connor, Pat McArdle and Rosalee Echele, I’d like to Thank You for composing a beautiful Installation Ceremony that I know I will always remember. And last but not least, I’m thanking my Chapter for putting up with me and for taking on the extra duties with your assistance to me this year. My theme is “Let Your Dreams Take Flight with ESA”. One of my dreams is to visit each Chapter this year in some capacity, whether it be to attend a meeting, a social or a money making project or event. I’m looking to each of my Illinois Sisters and Brothers to help me to fulfill that dream by sharing YOUR dreams. Another dream is to start a Collegiate Chapter at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. And I’m very happy to say that dream has already taken flight and will soon be a reality – Thank you to Jamie Atchison for that one! When I joined ESA in 1978, little did I know I’d be standing here today as your newly Installed State President ready to let MY Dreams take flight. I hope this year you can learn to dream with me. I hope you find not only your dreams but inspiration from each other, from other Chapters as well as from other States. Let FUN be a part of your dreams this year as you soar in your support of St Jude’s, Easter Seals, Camp New Hope and your other favorite projects throughout the year. In closing, I’d like to thank you in advance for everything you are going to do this coming year!! LET YOUR DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT EVERYONE!!
